Custom Window Treatments vs. Retail Ready: What You Need to Know

There is a difference between custom window treatments and ready-made retail treatments. The two are simply not the same when it comes to longevity and quality. Am I opposed to ready-made? Goodness, no.

You may need something right now for your new home or renovation, and ready-made treatments fill this need perfectly. So today, I'll be sharing the difference between the two and pros and cons of each. Let’s get started…

Retail Window Treatment Details

Although choices in ready-made panels, shades, and blinds have improved, design options are still limited. For example, you may have to decide between the right length, the correct width, or the right color when you purchase. In addition, linings are often lower quality which means the treatments won't last long.

One advantage to ready-made? They are quick and available if you have recently moved into a new home.

The Advantage of Custom Window Coverings

On the flip side, custom window treatments fit your specific space and needs. There is an almost endless selection of fabrics, trims, colors, and patterns to choose from that perfectly suit your particular style. In addition, quality fabrics and linings are long-lasting.

The downside to custom treatments is that they require more time and financial investment, but it’s worth it.
